Education & Background
John E. McGarry, M.D. an orthopedic surgeon is a native Texan as he was born and raised in Dallas, TX. He received his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University before attending medical school at the University of Texas Medical Center at Houston. He completed his residency at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and was fellowship trained in sports medicine by Dr. Alan Barber at Plano Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Center.
Dr. McGarry specializes in arthroscopic surgery of the knee and shoulder, sports medicine orthopedics as well as knee joint replacements and general orthopedics. He believes in utilizing minimally invasive procedures where applicable and uses these techniques in such surgeries as arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs and ACL reconstructions. Dr. McGarry is also highly trained and experienced in fracture care and is currently accepting new patients.
Dr. McGarry is a single father of 2 children, a daughter and a son. He loves the Dallas Cowboys, movies, reading, traveling and exercising.
Dr. McGarry performs knee replacement surgery at Methodist Hospital for Surgery in Addison. Dr. McGarry is currently seeing new patients.
